Trellix AntiMalware Engine secures I-O Data network attached storage devices
New embedded anti-malware capabilities accelerate cyber resilience in Japan
TOKYO – October 28, 2025 – Trellix, the company delivering the future of AI-powered cybersecurity, today announced Trellix AntiMalware Engine Software Development Kit (SDK) for I-O NAS Security devices is now available in Japan. Trellix OEM partner I-O Data Device, Inc., designs, manufactures, and delivers NAS devices in Japan, providing multi-layered data protection and efficient operations to enhance reliability and security. With the embedded capabilities of the Trellix AntiMalware Engine SDK, I-O NAS Security customers can swiftly detect and remove viruses, worms, and other threats.
“Trellix continuously invests in enhanced security capabilities for network-connected devices,” said Neville Vincent, Senior Vice President, APJ. “The nature of threats has changed significantly in recent years, and is much more sophisticated and distributed. With anti-malware capabilities embedded in network-attached storage, customers’ critical data is further protected.”
A key measure of anti-malware effectiveness is how well it isolates a threat and prevents it from spreading. The scan engine in The Trellix AntiMalware Engine SDK delivers comprehensive detection capabilities, inspecting 32-bit and 64-bit program executables, Microsoft Office files, Adobe PDF and Flash, Oracle Java, boot sectors, and other file formats, as well as encrypted, compressed, archived, packed, and protected files. Benefits include:
- High-Performance Virus Detection: The Trellix scan engine provides comprehensive detection capabilities to detect and clean infected files.
- Real-Time Scanning: All files saved or updated on NAS devices are scanned immediately to prevent the spread of infections.
- Seamless Installation: As a dedicated add-on for I-O Data’s NAS products, the SDK’s C-based application programming interface (API) is easy to install and manage.
“In developing security for our offerings, we were looking for a partner to support our end users with security in any environment, be it traditional IT, operational technology, or broader IoT deployments,” said Masahiro Shio, Sub Director of Business Department, I-O Data Device Inc. “Trellix has a long history of delivering innovative and effective anti-virus technology, and embedding security built on the Trellix AntiMalware Engine provides maximum benefits.”
Using the Trellix AntiMalware Engine SDK, application developers and managed service providers can integrate advanced scanning technology directly into their own solutions, delivering customers enhanced detection and protection from advanced threats.
